Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) was developed in China, Pan Technical Automotive Center (PATAC), design, and a joint venture between General Motors and Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC), with global design input.

According to Cao Min PATAC Concept Car Chief Designer, designers aim to create a modern global design of the Buick, but also the essence and subtle Chinese influence.
